We are looking for a teacher of Physical Education with the opportunity of an additional responsibility of Head of Year to join our team from September 2018, teaching within a highly professional and supportive environment. This is a thriving department. The Physical Education curriculum offered at Poole High School to our students is wide and varied. Our excellent facilities include 2 Rugby pitches, 4 Football pitches / large Sports Hall, Dance studio, newly furnished Fitness Suite, Climbing Wall, BMX track, Gymnasium, 9 tarmac Tennis courts, 3 Cricket nets and a Swimming pool. Our team of 14 staff offer an extensive extra-curricular program. We have an exceptionally high uptake of students onto our GCSE / BTEC courses and ‘A’ level courses. We consistently get 15+ students opting onto our ‘A’ level course and 35 + opting to sit our BTEC courses in September.

Our students are well motivated and examination performance at Key Stages 4 and 5 has rapidly progressed over the last 5 years. This year, we achieved the school’s best ever GCSE results and were placed first in the post 16 league table in Poole for value added. Consequently, we are within the top 25% of schools nationally at KS4 and KS5 for progress and Poole local authority is in the top decile nationally for attainment 8.
Results in the Physical Education department compare extremely favourably to National averages, even within an area where Grammar schools select the most able students. Last summer 72% of our students attained a grade C or above; with 48% achieving an A*- B grade. Our AS results have been judged by Alps score as 3 (excellent) and our A2 results have risen year on year and is currently a 2 (outstanding). Our BTEC Sport results at KS4 and 5 are fantastic. Needless to say we have enjoyed good success at all levels.
The school has delightful landscaped grounds and is very well resourced, being located at the heart of the town with excellent access by road and public transport. The quality of life in Poole is good and there is easy access to diverse range of cultural and scenic attractions.
