HeadStart is based in the centre of Phuket Island, and having started as a home school in 2005, gaining ‘International School’ status in 2010, we are now a fully accredited International School with the Education Development Trust, have been awarded the International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) and have been offering Cambridge qualifications throughout all key stages and IGCSEs for several years. The most recent school accreditation visit by a team of Education Development Trust inspectors (May 2017) rated the school at the silver level and graded the school as good, with several outstanding features. The school now has over 600 students on role.

In August 2015 the school entered the latest phase of its exciting and rapid development when we moved into to a new state of the art campus. As part of the move to the new school, we opened our Sixth-Form and our first Year 13 cohort graduated in 2017.

Physical Education Teacher–

Due to the need for the current post holder to return to England at short notice, an exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, well qualified and inspirational teacher to contribute to the PE and Sports faculty. The candidate must be female in order to balance the genders of teachers within the PE department.

We are looking for an excellent PE teacher with experience in teaching a broad range of subjects across a wide age range. The candidate must have excellent organisational skills, have a proven track record of outstanding practise as a teacher and a desire to contribute to our extensive and growing extra-curricular sporting program. Specific experience in teaching and coaching Swimming and Gymnastics would be an advantage.  

This is an exciting phase for the development of PE and sport in the school.  The school has invested heavily in brand new sports facilities and we are looking for the right candidate to help further utilise the wonderful new facilities now available.  The successful candidate will be working with a team of highly professional dedicated PE and coaching staff to further build on and develop the high quality of PE and Sport at the school.  

Candidates should be willing to bring inspiration, passion and a real love of PE and Sport to the faculty. The candidate should also have a willingness to be a reflective practitioner who could further enhance the teaching and learning in the school.

Requirements / Application Details –
Essential Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of the UK based curriculum and experience of teaching KS3 / KS4
• Sound understanding of the assessment requirements for IGCSE.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognised university
• A recognised teaching qualification, BEd., PGCE, iPGCSE or Equivalent
• Fluent English speaker
  Desirable Requirements (not essential):
• Previous experience in an International School environment or experience of teaching second language learners
• Experience in teaching and coaching Swimming and Gymnastics.
• Experience of the Cambridge International Examinations Curriculum
• Experience of administering candidate’s practical assessment for IGCSE PE.
