St. Nicholas is seeking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic teacher/learner of Physics who will enjoy guiding young learners in a highly stimulating and dynamic international environment. Current experience working with post 16 learners is desirable with IB Diploma experience as an added advantage. The Science Faculty leads in developing a rich and varied learning environment at St Nicholas where all learners in year 11 and 12 follow a full IB Diploma Programme. It is a successful, forward thinking and well-run Faculty which contributes significantly to all the interdisciplinary programmes at the school. Teachers/learners value sharing ideas, resources and experiences. The learning is organised in mixed and diverse groups where collaboration and agency are prioritised. In years 7 and 8 the Faculty has designed a project-based course which focuses on concepts and inquiry. In years 9 and 10 the learners work towards the IGCSE Double Coordinated  Science award where the learning follows the Year 7 and 8 experience and is increasingly organised around concepts, inquiry and projects, with each group taught by a specialist teacher for each Science. At IB Diploma the faculty offers Biology, Chemistry and Physics at HL and SL. Curriculum development is on-going and reflects the school’s inquiry-based philosophy. The department has interactive board or projectors in all classrooms and laptops, Chromebooks and data loggers are available for learners There are seven or eight full-time teachers and the faculty counts on exclusive use of six well-resourced laboratories. 

Candidates will have:

  • A university degree in Physics or a related subject along with evidence of recent professional learning.
