Physics Teacher

St George Madrid is a fast growing, but young school within the St George´s Group of Schools in Spain and is located in a prime educational zone to the North of the capital. The school operates on a large campus with many new and developing facilities. The school has seen significant growth in recent years, with potential for more. The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner, preferably with experience of teaching Physics across the secondary phase including key stage five. We have recently adopted the IB Diploma and are in our third year of offering the programme. Experience of teaching this programme would therefore be a distinct advantage. A willingness and ability to teach all sciences at key stage and a second science subject in key stage four is also desirable.  As part of the secondary team, the successful candidate would be expected to lead and assist with developing the school´s physics programme working within and as a member of our science department. As an international school we expect all of our staff to commit to the life of the school, through our after-school programme and events and activities going on throughout the year. A commitment to educating the whole child, emphasis on high levels of pastoral care and an inclusive approach to education will be of the utmost importance as we make the final appointment. Nearly all of our children have English as a second or third language. There is a high level of English proficiency across the school, but being able to adapt to the needs of students who are working outside of their native language is very important. Candidates will also need to demonstrate evidence of being strong team players as well as the ability to adapt quickly to new situations, with a flexible approach to problem solving. We follow an adapted English National Curriculum across our primary and secondary schools, leading to examination at IGCSE and IB Diploma.
