Job overview

Contract term: Fixed term 2 years

St. Constantine’s seeks an outstanding Physics Teacher. The post of Head of Science may be available for the right candidate and applicants are invited to express their interest for this role.

St. Constantine's is a co-educational, day and boarding, international school, serving 650 students (including 90 boarders) from over 30 different countries. Having celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2012, it is thus the second oldest international school in Tanzania and is now the largest international school in northern Tanzania - and is continuing its growth and expansion.

The School possesses two campuses: the Main Campus just 15 minutes from the centre of Arusha, set in idyllic 34 acre forested campus surrounded by the famed Burka coffee plantation, and a small Town Campus (opened in 2012) in the centre of Arusha. The Burka campus has seven instructional buildings with 56 dedicated classrooms, two computer labs, five science laboratories, a new dining room and kitchen, assembly hall and extensive sports facilities including a 25 metre outdoor swimming pool, two basketball courts, tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, two football fields and a rugby field. With some of the best facilities in Tanzania, we are justifiably proud of our sporting reputation, and see this as a suitable counterbalance to our strong academic side.  Most staff are accommodated in modern housing on campus.

The School became the first Round Square school in Tanzania in April 2014. We are situated at the foot of Mount Meru (14,986 feet) with Mount Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet) 80 kilometres to the east and Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge and the Serengeti to our west.

From Year 10 to Year 13 the secondary school follows the syllabuses of Cambridge International Examinations culminating in IGCSE, AS and A2 courses.

Applicants must possess:

  • A relevant teaching qualification and at least three years’ teaching experience
  • Experience of teaching either A Level or IB Diploma
  • High expectations and a creative approach in the classroom
  • The commitment to work as part of a dynamic team
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Evidence of ongoing learning
  • Excellent spoken English
  • A commitment to the co-curriculum
