The IAT is seeking PHYSICS teachers to teach Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. As a Physics Teacher employed within the IAT you will teach classes to UAE national students in a practical learner centered environment. The Science program, with a focus on Physics is based on internationally recognized school standards (The American National Science Education Standards). “Science as inquiry is the main approach of the program”.

Brief Description

To create effective and stimulating learners-centered opportunities for learning through high quality instruction that enables the development and progression of all learners. To have enthusiasm for the subject matter that inspires others to have a lifelong love of learning and the motivation, skills and attitudes to be productive citizens contributing positively to the development of the country. 

Detailed Description

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for planning, managing and improving the learning of their own students, working with other team members.

• In collaboration with Lead Teachers to implement and continually improve curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment strategies.

• To manage the learning of the students, maintaining records, collaborating with other teachers and promoting staff development in a pro-active manner.

• Responsible for planning and participating in professional development opportunities to further their own knowledge, skills and abilities.

• To manage all facilities and activities related to achieve student learning.

• To play a leadership role in role-modeling behavior, attitudes, and learning behaviors for students.

• Responsible for achieving the set learning outcomes in students, and therefore supervise all student activities and processes to ensure outcomes.

• To develop and maintain teaching materials and assist with program quality assurance processes.

• Teachers liaise with Student Counselors, as required. Communicate progress and performance to students and school management/administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Student centered, and an aptitude to work with Arab youth.

• Committed to innovation in Teaching and Learning initiatives, with a positive “can do” attitude and willingness to promote life-long learning across IAT.

• Commitment to student-centered, project based learning.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people.

• Sound understanding of technologies that support educational development and current with technology developments.

Job Requirements

• Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Physics

• A teaching qualification will be preferred

• Minimum 3 years’ High School teaching experience

Additional Requirements

Subject Specific Technical skills preferred are:

• Demonstrate solid command of knowledge in general physics topics

• Ability to prepare well-structured and balanced lessons that leads to learning outcomes

• Promote critical thinking and problem solving skills among learners

• Use multimedia resources such as simulations and animations in teaching physics

• Contribute to curriculum enrichment and development

• Awareness of current research and scientific knowledge in the area of physics

• Demonstrate the skills and knowledge related to safety in the physics lab

• Reflect competency in using lab equipment and conducting lab sessions

• Experience with Advanced Placement courses and exams

• Seek continuous professional development opportunities in teaching physics

Applied Technology High School (Al Ain – Male), is an all-boys, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in the United Arab Emirates, serving students from the age of 13-18. The secondary school is situated in Al Ain. It is part of the Institute of Applied Technology, comprising of 20 campuses, including 14 schools and six colleges.
