About Us

The Laurus Trust is a highly successful and growing multi-academy trust in the North West of England, with Cheadle Hulme High School, the founder school, at its centre. Cheadle Hulme Primary School as part of the Laurus Trust, is a hugely oversubscribed, non-selective, non-denominational, two form entry Free School with a maximum class size of 30 pupils

Our mission is to prepare our children for a world we know and a world yet to be discovered and we do this through a broad, balanced and memorable curriculum. Two Reception classes are added each academic year and we will become a 420-pupil primary school from Reception to Year Six in September 2024. The school also offers a first class Early Years nursery setting. Our pupils benefit from a purpose-built building with access to state-of-the-art facilities, overlooking Bruntwood Park.

Due to continued growth and success, the team is looking to appoint a pro-active and dedicated Play Leader. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Laurus Trust family, and to play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of the Trust.

Main Responsibilities  

  • Assist the Manager in providing a high quality, inclusive play and care centred service that meets the needs of children, young people and their families   
  • Support with the day to day organisation and operation of the club    
  • Assist the manager in day to day administration, record keeping and provision of snacks   
  • Provide support for pupils with SEND and supervise the activities of individuals both in and out of the setting under the direction of specialist staff   
  • Support in the provision of a stimulating environment for the children and young people, ensuring play materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and stored, reporting any worn/ damaged materials to the manager.   
  • Supervise children and young people, organising/ preparing creative and appropriate play opportunities for the children, ensuring the play area is left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of each session.   
  • Ensure the safety of all children in the event of an emergency and administer first aid when necessary.   
  • Record and monitor the safe arrival and departure of children and young people.   
  • Work closely with parents in maintaining an open and inclusive working partnership which supports the development of their children.

Key Skills & Experience  

  • Experience of working with children aged 4 – 11 years, ideally within a similar role    
  • Ability to deliver play activities that children enjoy    
  • Ability to support the team and the manager to ensure the environment is safe and encourages play    
  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent    
  • A L2 in Play Work or a relevant equivalent would be advantageous
