Job overview

Outwood Post 16 Centre builds on the great work of the Outwood Academies in Worksop to provide first class A level education. Courses are delivered by many of the same outstanding teachers who teach at Outwood Academy Portland and Outwood Academy Valley and also include specialist post 16 teachers to provide students with a unique mix that generates the very best experience. Outwood’s amazingly successful teaching styles continue to expand so students at the Post 16 Centre receive even greater levels of challenge and development, while continuing to build on their collaboration skills, leadership styles and higher order communication techniques that we have embedded at GCSE.

You will be required to support learning through the use of data, strategic intervention and monitoring in order to maximise student attainment. You will monitor all students in the year group, until they leave Post 16, both academically and pastorally.  You will work closely with the Head of Centre, Safeguarding & Attendance Officer, Senior Leadership Team and teachers with Intervention Strategies to support the academic achievement of all students.  Your role will have emphasis on intervention and student tracking throughout the day using the school’s “Praising Stars” system. You will be required to work alongside the Safeguarding & Attendance Officer to prepare for case conferences and other meetings regarding students in your year group, preparing referrals and reports for those students identified as needing intervention.

You will contribute to an atmosphere of respect, recognition, optimism, celebration and mutual support in the Post 16 Centre, which promotes equality within, and values the diversity of the school community.

The Post 16 Centre benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools and you will be joining a highly innovative, inspirational and ambitious organisation. The Trust guarantees every member of staff CPD and development opportunities.

We are an Ofsted Outstanding, 11-18 academy based in the large friendly town of Worksop, near Sheffield and Nottingham.

Since joining the Outwood Family in 2012, we were rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2017 and are among the top schools for Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire for GCSE results, including English and Maths. We are committed to developing our staff and we are delighted that after its latest inspection, Ofsted noted that ‘the support provided for teachers’ development is strong and wide ranging.’

We believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential. With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic excellence equally, creating an environment where every student can shine.

We have won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

Although we are Outstanding, we are constantly looking to improve. Help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
