Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Post-16 Learning Manager to support learning through the use of data, strategic intervention and monitoring in order to maximise student attainment in Years 12-13 at UTC OLP. The post is 52 weeks, permanent.

The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust provides a successful, dynamic education and we have two UTCs rated Good by Ofsted in Sheffield. We opened our City Centre site in September 2013 specialising in Engineering and Creative & Digital Media and then expanded to open our second UTC on the exciting Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield in September 2016 offering opportunities for students in Health Science, Computing and Sports Science. The UTC opened within the Sheffield UTC Academy Trust, which has a wealth of experience with 2 UTCs in Sheffield, both graded Ofsted ‘Good’, along with UTC Derby Pride Park, who joined the Trust in December 2019, which is yet to be inspected.

We aim to deliver an outstanding STEM focused educational experience grounded in real, relevant workplace practice. Partnerships with world-class companies, schools, colleges and universities give our students a unique start to their future careers. We provide training today for the jobs of tomorrow. Our cutting-edge facilities and engagement with employers’ / university partners provides an exciting environment.

Support staff are vital within any UTC and we are looking for a Post-16 Learning Manager. You will be a highly skilled practitioner who understands the challenges of support services in a fast paced, student-focused environment where conflicting demands are the norm. Effective communication and team working is absolutely critical to the UTC’s success.

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational University Technical College situated in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This sponsor-led academy is part of The Sheffield UTC Academy Trust, alongside its sister institution, UTC Sheffield City Centre.  UTC Derby Pride Park joined the Trust in December 2019.  All 3 UTCs have been judged Good by Ofsted.

University Technical Colleges are secondary schools for students aged 13–19. They combine technical, practical and academic learning to deliver an education that goes beyond traditional GCSEs and A-levels.

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, which opened in September 2016, is provided with support from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council. A smaller than average secondary school, it provides 600 places when fully subscribed.

Values and vision

The UTC is based on the Olympic Legacy Park, an area of Sheffield set to be part of an Innovation District for research on health and wellbeing. The UTC is well-positioned to recognise and support all students as individuals, ensuring their talents can be developed to the full.

Through a careers-focused education, students gain a good grounding for the future. UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park has specialisms in health sciences, computing and sport science to address key skill shortages in the wider world, providing students with a clear path into employment after finishing their school education.

Ofsted

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park was inspected by Ofsted in 2019 achieving 'Good'  all areas.
