Pre Prep Teacher Maternity Cover

We are looking for a qualified teacher to teach at the Dragon Pre-Prep.

The Pre-Prep has around 220 children from Reception to Year 3 and is named after the family which provided Headmasters of the Dragon from 1884 to 1967. It is set on its own site, two miles from the Prep at Bardwell Road, and the Head of Pre-Prep enjoys a good degree of autonomy in the day-to-day running of this part of the School.  

There are three Reception, three Year 1, three Year 2 and four Year 3 classes at the Pre-Prep and classes are supported by Learning Assistants. Class teaching is enhanced by specialist teachers in Music, ICT, French, PE and Games and in addition there is a Learning Support department and a Speech and Language Therapist to further support learning. All staff have a good knowledge of modern teaching techniques and are keen to develop a creative and motivating learning environment. A comprehensive NQT induction programme runs at the school to support newly qualified members of the profession. Staff are expected to share duties, take part in games and activity programmes and also offer an after school club on one day each week.  

The Dragon School is one of the largest boarding/day preparatory schools in the country and sends pupils on to senior schools throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. The Prep School is situated in a most attractive part of North Oxford with its playing fields running down to the River Cherwell, and yet is only a mile from the City centre. At present there are around 620 pupils aged 8-13 in the Prep School, of whom 250 are boarders.
