Job overview
An opportunity at a prestigious boys' boarding and day prep school in the Surrey countryside, 25 miles south of London. Woodcote is family owned and run, with approximately 100 boys, the vast majority of whom go on to the leading senior independent schools at 13.
We are seeking, from January 2025, a dynamic and enthusiastic Prep School teacher, with an ability to teach English to predominantly Years 5-8. Previous teaching experience would help but is not obligatory.
The role would include teaching a range of ages and abilities, and a full allocation would be close to 22 periods, in a 36-period week. The department usually consists of four, or possibly five staff, depending on other teaching commitments.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to take on a role in a smaller school where there will be more time to get involved in the other broader areas of the curriculum.
All staff are expected to contribute to the sports programme on a daily basis, and to the pastoral side, and experience in these areas will be an advantage.
Besides the ability to teach English to a high standard, together with very secure subject knowledge, enthusiasm for all areas of school life will be a key quality of the successful candidate.
Early applications are encouraged, as they will be considered immediately on receipt.
Woodcote House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS with Barred List check,
