We offer a truly engaging global education for students aged 2 – 14 years nestled in the heart of the iconic East Village, New York. Our school is dynamic, creative, based around a strong community of 145 students accommodated over six floors of our school, and with a strong ambition to grow over the next few years. Enrolment is selective, based on the student’s ability to access our international curriculum and families wishing to align with our international ethos, with children from over 40 countries currently enrolled in our school.

About the Role
This is an outstanding opportunity to play a major role in this truly amazing and unique school in the heart of New York City. We are looking for an absolutely outstanding primary class teacher who will also be an exceptional team player, have high standards and expectations, and relish the opportunity to have influence beyond the classroom.
Possible Assistant Headteacher / Head of Lower School (for outstanding candidate)
Furthermore, for the right candidate, there is also the possibility of Assistant Headteacher, Lower School available. The Assistant Headteacher (AHT), along with the Principal, Deputy Head and one other Assistant Head form the school’s academic School Leadership Team (SLT). This team leads the strategic and operational workings of the school. The AHT has autonomy to oversee and lead their portfolio of responsibilities, currently including staff appraisal, professional development, strategic development of the school’s phonics program and ensuring the smooth and effective running of the lower school (although these maybe negotiable upon appointment).
The AHT will be required to undertake class teaching responsibilities in the Lower School (year 4). Although responsibilities will be negotiable in accordance with the strengths of the successful candidate, a typical outline of such duties may include:
- Lead the Lower School team of teaching staff and oversee the development of the learning assistant team via the Learning Assistant coordinator
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Lower School including, but not limited to, the assemblies, trips, events, supervisory duties, overseeing the timetable requirements for Lower School
- Lead the whole school appraisal, professional development in accordance with the school’s development priorities
- Manage aspects of the school development plan and annual self-evaluation process
- Assist the Principal in the recruitment and induction of staff
Candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant experience as well as express any particular areas of interest. There is a substantial teaching commitment reflective of the small nature of the school, and so candidates must be prepared and able to meet the simultaneous demands of teaching and leading the school. The AHT will deliver an adapted UK National and International Curriculum. Please clearly state which subjects you are able to teach and to what level.
