Job overview

Straits International School, Rawang is a young school that opened its doors in October 2018 although we do have a founding campus in Penang from 2013. Since then, we have grown rapidly but still retain the advantages of a small school, most notably the family feel and the warmth of the community. This is an exciting time for the group, as we have now settled into a new purpose built campus in Rawang, close to Kuala Lumpur.

Due to a major growth with numbers doubling, we are expanding our Primary team, in both Key Stage 1 and 2. This recruitment drive will be for a January 2020 start date.

We are particularly keen to accept applications from candidates who will bring a range of teaching experience, skills and confidence in their particular Key Stage. This post would suit ambitious individuals keen for career development and with outstanding initiative and drive. Practical understanding of the UK curriculum is preferred.

As a school, we pride ourselves on the level of care we give to our students. The motto, ‘Not for me, Not for you, But for us,’ really captures what we are trying to do. We aim to combine academic rigour with a key sense of kindness, personal responsibility and determination to overcome challenges.

We therefore need staff that work hard, stay flexible and are resilient in the face of challenges. We value staff who will do all they can to push the school forward, be proactive and have the interests of the wonderful students at heart. In return, they will find fantastic children, the personal freedom to be innovative in what they teach and the trust to help develop the school and shape its future.

The quality of life in Malaysia is very high and it offers a wide range of activities and food to try. Often referred to as ‘easy Asia’, Malaysia not only speaks English widely but also offers direct access to most countries around the continent. Stroll through streets filled with exceptional art, amazing cafes and interesting shops or in contrast, you can visit one of the many western malls that house stores from the UK, Australia and the US. It is voted as one of the top ten places in the world to live!

Our salaries are competitive and apartments are provided. The quality of life here is excellent. We believe that everyone should enjoy coming to school!

You are more than welcome to take a look at our website which has a wealth of information on our great school.
