Job overview

The Primary Curriculum Coordinator will work closely with the School Principal to continuously improve the quality of the overall curriculum including the International Primary Curriculum – IPC. S/he will also support the daily operations and staffing matters, and will assume responsibility for daily operations and staff in the absence of the School Principal.

General:

  • Work closely with the Principal and Vice Principal to support pedagogical practices and operations in alignment with the Middleton Mission, Vision and Values
  • Support daily teaching and learning at school
  • Support daily school operations including ECA, transport, duties, meals, assemblies and events.
  • Help develop and support systems and structures in developing teacher competency in International Primary Curriculum (IPC), English National Curriculum and Singapore Maths
  • Support teachers in pedagogy for additional languages programme.
  • Support in developing a coherent IPC route plan
  • Collect anecdotal data and proposed changes to the curriculum and provide updates on a yearly basis for curriculum review
  • Ensuring that the school complies with all the relevant and applicable IPC regulations
  • Overseeing the delivery and implementation of the curriculum 
  • Ensuring that appropriate student records are maintained
  • Overseeing that appropriate textbooks, resources and facilities are available to the staff
  • Organising internal assessment and the standardization of the Self Study when relevant, along with the Senior Leadership team
  • Organising formal procedures in preparation for moderation, certification and re-evaluation with the relevant external curriculum partners.
  • Help review and roll out the school’s curriculum scope and sequence documents for presentation to the Academic and Examination board, when required. 
  • Supporting the School principal in the implementation, review and update of the school’s development plans. 
  • Support Senior Leadership team in coordinating programme changes to address student needs:  modify programmes, change of course placement, development of additional/alternative courses for approval of Academic and Examination Board
  • Participating in regular management and/or staff meetings
  • Providing student, teacher and parent support:  orientation to programmes, problem solving, conflict resolution, and personal support

Students:  

The Primary Curriculum Coordinator will be directly involved with students in: 

  • Ensuring all relevant curriculum material and information are disseminated to students’/parents.
  • Supporting students through the IPC ‘Celebration of Learning’
  • Ensuring students are adequately supervised at all times.
  • Providing pastoral care when needed

Parents:  

  • Providing information on the Curriculum – organizing presentations/workshops for parents.
  • Support parents understand the assessment and reporting criteria.
  • Coordinating Parent/Teacher conferences so that teachers inform parents of student progress. 

Colleagues:  

The Primary Curriculum Coordinator has a key role in working with teachers by: 

  • Ensuring that teaching and learning is aligned with IPC programme and Academic board approved curriculum material
  • Informing staff of assessment and reporting procedures and deadlines.
  • Support in review and development of a coherent IPC along with the teacher coordinators for IPC
  • Coordinating and facilitating Collaborative Planning meetings with all teachers
  • Ensuring teachers are familiar with the IPC website
  • Help support short term and long term school projects
  • Support teachers with students needing learning support
  • Coordinating professional development for staff in liaison with the School Principal
  • Organizing regular staff meetings for discussion and planning
  • Coordinating the Induction programme for new staff at the beginning of the year and throughout with the School Principal and/or Leadership team.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of staff for yearly appraisal, as directed by the Senior Leadership team.
