Job overview

Primary Education Lead Teacher

Closing date: 12:00 noon Monday 2nd March 2020

Contract: Permanent, part-time (0.6 – 0.8 by negotiation), all year round

ACES Academies is a cross-phase Multi-Academy Trust.  There are currently four schools in the Trust, one secondary and three primary, and we have embarked upon an exciting period of significant growth.

We are looking for an experienced educational leader to oversee and deliver the Trust’s School Improvement offer for its primary schools.  Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for School Improvement activities and pedagogical advice to schools, predominantly in the primary sector and to include transition and cross phase working.

You will lead the Trust’s data and quality assurance activities to ensure that ACES Academies has live, accurate and forensic data on school performance and ensure that all DfE, Ofsted, Board and Central Team requirements for data are met.

Success in the role will be demonstrated by the stability and improvement of standards in our schools and the strong engagement of our school leaders, with the aims and mission of the Trust.

Although this post is initially being offered as part-time, it is hoped that as the Trust grows, the role could become full-time.

Key aspects of the job role include:

• to use information from a forensic analysis of in-year progress across schools, to plan strategically and manage the delivery of the school improvement offer to all primary schools;

• to ensure that pedagogical practice within our primary schools is continually developing and having a positive impact for all pupils;

• to direct and ensure improvements in achievement for disadvantaged pupils;

• to promote excellence and collaboration of classroom practice within and beyond individual schools;

• to ensure teachers are aware of current research and latest thinking in terms of pedagogical practices and challenge them to try out new ideas;

• to take responsibility, with the Chief Executive, for ensuring that preparation for and follow up to all Ofsted inspections are thorough, robust and lead to the very best possible outcomes;

• to lead on arrangements to support the work of the Board of Trustees (meeting as the Standards Committee).

To be considered for this role you should have a deep commitment to the education and well-being of children and young people, be educated to degree level and hold QTS.

For an informal discussion, please contact Debbie Warner (Clerk to ACES) or Andrew Goulding (CEO) on 01480 375675.

The ACES Academies Trust has a shared local vision to raise aspiration and achievement for the communities we serve. We focus on the raising of standards, by sharing staff expertise and utilising additional resource gained through the sponsor’s connections with a range of businesses across Europe and the US. New staff are employed by the Trust to work where most needed and we aspire to enhance recruitment and retention, through our curriculum innovation and approach to staff development.

The schools in the Multi-Academy Trust develop a common set of values and expectations and work closely together using rigorous QA systems, monitoring and evaluating processes followed by timely and decisive action, in order to secure improvement.

The ACES Academies Trust uses the mantra of Aspiration, Creativity and Excellence to create Success. This seeks to ignite the imaginations of young people, kindle ambition and fuel the creative energy of communities, so that our students achieve excellence and become responsible global citizens. They will develop the ability to apply themselves with resilience, to think creatively, to question and reason, and to argue rationally, so they are equipped to take their places in the world. Tolerance, compassion and respect are central in all schools.

Our Academies

Hinchingbrooke School

Hinchingbrooke is a remarkable state school, set in acres of beautiful grounds and adjoining a country park. Hinchingbrooke House was formerly the family home of the Cromwells and of the Earls of Sandwich. The school finds inspiration from its heritage and gives both staff and students a very special pride and a sense of identity.

We aim for all students to be nurtured as uniquely talented individuals, finding fulfilment through their learning and the development of their intellectual, creative, physical and emotional capabilities.

We aim for our students to develop the moral integrity to become responsible global citizens, so that they may take their place in society with confidence. We are confident that anyone associated with the Hinchingbrooke learning community, student or adult, will leave the richer for their experience.
