Founded in 2015, Le Régent is a rapidly developing Swiss boarding and day school with an international academic programme. Approximately 200 students from Switzerland and around the world are educated in an ultra-modern campus in the heart of the Valais Alps in the stunning ski resort of Crans-Montana. Le Régent has been under the guidance of Institut Le Rosey (www.rosey.ch) since August 2019.
Le Régent follows a rigorous academic programme in English in preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and for its own diploma, the Régent Graduation Diploma, while nurturing the individual talents of each student with its diverse extracurricular offering, including sports, arts, music and mountain activities.
In the Junior school, which has its own building, the curriculum incorporates elements of the UK national curriculum combining this with the IPC. Class sizes are small and the international student and teaching body ensures an interesting and stimulating classroom and school atmosphere. The school’s exceptional location and outdoor education programme and the chance to ski during the winter season are important attractions for both students and staff.
The Junior School hosts students from Class 1-6 during the day and boarding students up to 13 years old. Although the majority of students in the Junior School are day students, the boarding life is vibrant and many local children take the opportunity to experience boarding on a flexi model.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Primary/Elementary School Teacher to join our team from September 2021. Although probably non-resident, the successful candidate will have the positive outlook required to be part of a boarding community and provide a positive presence in the Junior school. In particular, the candidate will have the drive to foster a love of learning and bring an infectious enthusiasm to the classroom.
Although the current post will be for Class 5 (UK Year 6/US grade 5) we would welcome applications from candidates able to teach different age groups.
The role of Junior Curriculum Coordinator may be available for the right candidate.
Following the UK’s exit from the EU, the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons (AFMP) between Switzerland and the EU no longer applies to the UK, and UK nationals are considered third-state nationals (who, contrary to most third-state nationals, do not require a visa in order to enter Switzerland). Unfortunately, regulations to obtain a work permit are considerably tighter for third-state nationals than they are for most Europeans; getting a job offer is just one step of many. Preference has always been given to Swiss nationals, foreign nationals with a Swiss residence permit (C, B, L, S, or F ) and EU/EFTA citizens/permit holders, where candidates are equally qualified; unfortunately, this rule now applies to UK nationals.
Vacant posts are registered with our regional employment centre and advertised via the European Employment System (EURES), on social media, on our school website and on this platform.
We reserve the right to appoint the right candidate ahead of the closing date. Appointment to take effect from September 2021.
