Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of an enthusiastic and committed Primary Mathematics Specialist (to teach KS3) to be based at a school based in Derbyshire. The school is based in the historic market town of Chesterfield.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven professional to join a Family of Schools. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of students and share their single goal of ‘students first’.

The Trust is a high performing system Trust in the north of England – and are looking for an outstanding candidate to help them maintain those standards.

They know that the key to great outcomes in mathematics at GCSE and beyond lies in setting firm foundations in Key Stage 3. Pupils have had a turbulent few years in education and their experience of learning through these times will be varied depending on where they live and which school they attended. The school want to ensure that the knowledge gaps between those who have and those who have not had the best provision do not widen any further. They hope that you are the right person to join them on that journey.

The school can demonstrate an impressive record in GCSE Maths, they always achieve higher than national average on the key measures (now 5+ and 4+) even though students enter their academies below National Average. Of this, they are extremely proud.

You will build on this success and take them to the next level, working closely with the SEND teams and senior leadership at the academies they work with. They need your experience of transforming pupils’ lives through enabling them to achieve age related and beyond in a primary setting to help them further shape their transition and catch-up programme in Key Stage 3.

If you are already committed to working in a wider role, they would still welcome your application, as they will discuss a flexible approach for the right candidate.

Chances are you will be an experienced Primary Maths Lead, a Primary Mastery Specialist; perhaps an experienced Year 6 teacher with knowledge and understanding of successful intervention approaches. You will certainly possess everything required to take a strategic lead on responding to academies’ needs, which could involve anything from intervening with small groups of students, leading training on intervention, mentoring KS3 teachers to get the best out of their classes - whatever their ability to taking ownership for your own groups so others can see the great practice of a skilled primary specialist.

Needless to say, you will be an inspiring leader with real vision and passion – and the drive and determination to make things happen.

All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role.

By applying to this job advertisement you are providing consent for the Tes Recruitment team to propose and discuss your application with the employer.
