Job overview

Primary School Teaching Position with some KS3 – required for August 2022

Teacher of Music

Music is a vital and thriving part of the life of Discovery Bay International School. All students are encouraged and supported in the development of performance skills, musical understanding and a lifelong love of music. A popular peripatetic programme further extends our students' musical opportunities.  There are three dedicated Music classrooms across the campuses in addition to various practise rooms. Facilities are well resourced with students having access to a wide range of instruments as well as iMac computers installed with music composition and editing software.

Performance opportunities ranged from formal concerts to Battle of the Bands. Students and teachers also have the opportunity to attend overseas performance trips and collaboration workshops with other FOBISIA schools around South East Asia. Beyond the curriculum, there are many opportunities for participation in extracurricular activities, such as Orchestra, Wind Band, Chamber Ensemble, Primary and Secondary Choirs, Chinese Drumming Group and Rock Bands.

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and successful full time Primary Music teacher who is willing to commit to working in a stimulating and dynamic international educational environment.  The successful applicant will be a fully qualified and experienced primary music teacher. Previous experience of teaching KS3 would be an advantage.  The applicant must also have a Degree in Education or equivalent postgraduate qualification as well as recent proven experience.

Successful candidates will receive a competitive compensation package; posts include cash, housing and professional development allowances, a gratuity of 18.75%, full remuneration of school fees for one child per teacher and medical and dental insurance for the employee.

Interviews will be conducted in Hong Kong and or online.
