The Sky Academy is a special school for boys between the ages of 10 and 17 from across Somerset who have an educational, health care plan for Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). We have recently joined the Learn@ MAT which is a specialist trust serving the west of England with specialist education for children and young people who have a variety of needs.

We recognise the complexities of our young people and aim to provide each of them with a personalised provision to meet their needs incorporating both our therapeutic and academic curriculum.

Staff are experts in their field and are consistently challenging both students and themselves in order to overcome barriers to success and provide students with the tools they require to thrive.

This was recognised at the last Ofsted inspection where we identified as a ‘Good’ school.

We are working closely with the local authority to ensure Sky remains an integral part of their strategy.  Further to a rebuild and refurbishment in 2014 which provided fantastic facilities we are currently working with the local authority to provide an additional building which will incorporate teaching spaces, a multi activity room and STEM room and increase the support we are able to provide young people with SEMH and SLCN across Somerset.

The school is based in Taunton which has a population of 65,000 and is known for its historic Monastery and Castle. Good transport links are available via the M5 and A303.
