Muirfield School was built in 1957 and is situated in the northwest of Aberdeen known as the Mastrick area. Muirfield School is bright and spacious with a library, large gym hall, dining hall and general purpose areas to accommodate a variety of school activities.

The senior management team consists of the Head Teacher and two full time Depute Head Teachers.

There is a part time School Administrator who is supported by a Clerical Support Assistant and a part time janitor. In nursery, there are 1.6 FTE Nursery Teachers and 2.8 FTE Nursery Nurses.  Throughout the school there are 12 full time Class Teachers (including 1 probationer teacher),   2 part time teachers and a nurture class teacher.

The school grounds in Muirfield have been developed along with the school community to provide an outdoor resource for the pupils throughout the school day and the wider community out with school hours. This has included the addition of a cycle skills track funded by Cycle Scotland and a whole school willow planting project part funded by Greenspace. Muirfield School achieved the Silver Eco School award and is working towards the Green Flag. The school also achieved a Cycle Friendly School Award and Primary Quality Mark in Science at a Bronze level.

The school accommodates children from Nursery to Primary 7.  There are two part-time Additional Support Needs Bases and a Nurture Class.

The Parent Forum Fund Raising Committee meets regularly, organising social events and fund raising for the school. There is a very supportive Parent Council and the parents contribute to school improvement through discussion with the Senior Management Team.
