Job overview

An Exceptional Primary Practitioner Teacher of Year 7 and Year 8 Literacy FULL-TIME / PERMANENT BEGINNNG JANUARY 2017 Mainscale  Colmers is an 11-19 comprehensive school that serves the Rednal, Northfield, Rubery and Frankley communities. We currently have over 1100 students on roll and this number is set to rise as our sixth form further expands.  This post has arisen from a major KS3 curriculum review that took place in 2017.  Our conclusion was, in simple terms, we have more in common with a primary or middle school curriculum and experience in the first two years.   Last year, we appointed four primary practitioners.  Three numeracy and 1 literacy.  Now, we would like to further enhance that team with the appointment of an energetic and skilled literacy teacher.  Their role is to support our current exceptional Lead Practitioner in delivering a curriculum that builds and accelerates the progress that was made at KS2.   . The successful applicants will work exclusively within Years 7 and 8 (unless they wish to extend their experience) and work exclusively within literacy.  Our new KS3 curriculum is based on a bold vision that places literacy, numeracy and character at the heart of the curriculum and seeks to maintain all that is valuable from the KS2 curriculum and wider experience.  We need applicants who: Are consistently good and outstanding teachers whose students make good or better progress Have a firm grasps of the literacy or numeracy curriculum. Have a desire or ambition to work within a secondary context. Can motivate and inspire students, parents / carers and colleagues. Wish to be part of a new innovation that places them at the forefront of education initiatives.  We can offer you: A team of professionals around you that will always commit to improving the life-chances of our students A generous remuneration package A teaching load of no more than 18 out of 25 hours per week. A Senior Leadership Team and staff body who will welcome you and will be willing to be led and inspired. A unique career opportunity.   If you have the vision and the energy to become part of our team, and be part of this exciting stage of our journey, we encourage you to visit the school and meet with us to hear more about our vision and the exciting times that lie ahead.  For an application pack or to arrange a visit please email  Mrs T Shortland, HR Manager, on enquiries@colmers.school
