Applications are invited for the position of Principal at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Blackall, (current enrolment 76), commencing 18 January 2021.  


St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School was originally established by the Josephite Sisters in 1917 to serve the catholic families of the far west. St. Joseph’s School exists for the education of children from Prep age to Year Six and is a co-educational facility still serving the township and surrounding properties of Blackall.


Blackall has much great fame for being the home of the fair dinkum black stump and the biggest cattle selling centre in the Central West with a quaint population of 2234.  This thriving outback town has plenty of heritage and history to uncover whilst living among a family friendly community.  The Barcoo River is a tranquil location to set up camp, lay back and relax with a spot of fishing and outdoor recreation.


The Principal is the religious, educational and organisational leader of a Catholic School within the Diocese of Rockhampton. They provide leadership and exercise prudential stewardship of the Catholic School, being ultimately responsible for the Catholic identity and ethos, curriculum and effective management of the school. 


The successful applicant will have a deep commitment to providing quality Catholic education based on a personal faith, active participation in the faith life of their parish, as well as having appropriate teaching experience, academic qualifications and leadership qualities. They will be an experienced leader with highly developed strategic, collaborative and relational skills to lead the college community into the future.


As Principal you will be generously rewarded with annual salary ranging between $123,658 and $135,283 plus super and the following additional incentives:-

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is a mixed, non-selective, independent primary school in Queensland, serving students from the age of 4-11. The primary school is situated in Blackall.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School was founded in 1917 to serve Catholic families in the region. It is the only Catholic school in the area. Teachers benefit from regular professional development opportunities, and the primary school enjoys a close-knit family-like community, with children, parents and staff working in partnership to provide for and nurture the development of each pupil.

Facilities

The primary school has two playground areas, a multi-purpose centre for indoor sport, music productions and community events, a rugby and cricket oval. Each classroom has Interactive Projectors and Apple TVs, along with the use of computer trolleys with laptops and iPads. 

Curriculum

The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum designed to engage students throughout their primary years of education. It has recently incorporated online Japanese lessons via Skype so that students benefit from learning about a new language and another culture. St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School also engages in a number of enrichment days and extra-curricular activities – seeing children  learn additional skills and gain new experiences outside of the classroom.
