The Opportunity

HD Qingdao, is seeking to appoint an outstanding Key Stage 1 or 2 Classroom Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to join a prestigious bilingual school, in an inspiring environment, and with the collegiate support of the Hurtwood House family in China and the UK.

The School

HD Qingdao opened in August 2018, quickly occupying its place as a premier school within the city. Designed in the architectural style of a traditional British boarding school, it was initially launched as a primary school with a view to grow organically into an all through 3-18 setting - now operating at both primary and secondary levels,  it is an exciting time to join an established and thriving school community as it continues to grow.

Like the other schools within the Hurtwood House China family (Beijing, Ningbo & Shanghai), HD Qingdao delivers a unique dual immersion curriculum, blending the best of the Chinese National Curriculum with British education.

The Person

We are looking for a Classroom Teacher who:

- can deliver well-planned, engaging and creative learning experiences for their students

- can deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for all pupils in their care

- always set high expectations, which inspire motivate and challenge students

- ensures excellent pastoral care contribute to the co-curricular programme and whole-school activities in a committed and enthusiastic manner

- works co-operatively and supportively with all members of staff are prepared to go the extra mile.

The successful candidate will have:

• A subject relevant degree from an established university (required)

• PGCE/QTS or equivalent (required)

• 2 or more years of full time, school based, teaching experience (required)

• Excellent working knowledge of the primary curriculum

• High levels of primary level pedagogical knowledge and know-how (required)

• Experience of working with children who have English as an additional language (required)

• Experience of working in the independent sector (desirable)
