Job overview

Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School is a successful IAPS Preparatory School in West London catering for 420 boys and girls aged from 4 to 11 years.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to lead the Science curriculum throughout our School, and to teach Science as a specialist subject from Year 3 to Year 6. We have a fully equipped, purpose-built Science laboratory, and the successful candidate will build on the high profile the subject already enjoys here at RPPS. Our commitment to this area of the curriculum was recognised externally when we were awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark.

This position would suit a Primary classroom practitioner with an enthusiasm and interest in Science, or a secondary trained Science teacher who would relish the opportunity to teach within the Primary age range.

In our recent inspection by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (March 2016), we were judged to be ‘excellent’ in all areas of the report, and the School had a successful Compliance Inspection in February 2019.

The salary for the role will be in line with the candidate’s experience and will include an additional responsibility allowance of £4,000.

An application form, job description and other relevant information are attached and may also be found on our website:   https://www.rpps.co.uk/about-us/join-our-team

Applications should be made by covering letter, accompanied by a fully completed application form, and should be addressed to: Mr Carl Howes, Headmaster, Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School, 16 Ravenscourt Avenue, London W6 0SL. Tel: 020 8846 9153

Closing date: Monday 19th April 2021

About Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School

Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School is a lively, coeducational and non-selective independent school for children aged four to eleven. Founded in 1991, the school provides an engaging education of the highest quality with a rich curriculum that is varied, exciting and forward -looking whilst also preparing our pupils for transfer at 11 years to some of the best and most selective Independent Schools.

At RPPS we ensure that we focus our support and attention on every single pupil who joins our community.  Our non-selective, child-centered ethos ensures that we cater for the individual.   We believe that all children will succeed when the curriculum inspires them and meets their individual needs, and when they feel valued, supported and happy.
My talented teaching staff and I are committed to nurturing a love of learning across the whole of the school and to bringing out the best in every single child for whom we have responsibility.  We want our pupils to feel confident; confident to ask questions, to challenge, to try something new, to reach forward to challenging goals and experiences and to be happy even to learn from making mistakes.

At RPPS we also believe that forming strong and trusting partnerships with parents is paramount. We operate an Open Door policy, where parents’ comments, views, contributions and suggestions are seen as making a valuable contribution to the continuing improvement and development of the school.   We also welcome parents’ direct support with activities such as hearing children read, accompanying day visits and at special events throughout the year.

The primary years for our pupils provide the foundation for future learning and at Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School we undertake to ensure that the years with us are happy, successful and fulfilling for each and every child.  Our experience and undoubted successes to date confirm that laughter and learning go hand-in-hand and our pupils leave at the end of Year 6 ready for the new challenges ahead and with fond memories of their time with us.
