Pinewood School is a special school which provides children and young people who have additional learning needs an opportunity to access high quality learning and teaching. The curriculum is designed and adapted to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.

The school is based in the village of Blackburn and has strong community links.

The school has both a primary and a secondary department. The primary department has 80 pupils within 10 classes and the secondary department has 71 pupils within 9 classes. We were delighted to welcome 2 new primary 1 classes to school this session.

During the session 2020/2021 the school roll comprised of 151 pupils, Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, 4 Principal Teachers, and 30 members of teaching staff and a team of 78 pupil support workers.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary
