This is an exciting opportunity for outstanding EYFS and primary teachers to join GEMS International School of Pearl City, Penang one of Malaysia’s newest and most dynamic schools…
We seek dynamic primary teachers to join our growing primary school. The roles would suit either experienced or gifted younger teachers looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidates will have enthusiasm to motivate and inspire our primary children.
GEMS International Schools worldwide encourage students to be independent learners that will meet the needs of a fast paced and changing world. We want all our students of whatever age to have a strong set of problem solving strategies, the ability to think critically as well as the have the knowledge and skills to apply to new and unfamiliar tasks (be a risk taker). We expect that students will continue to inquire/question throughout their lives and have a strong sense of fairness towards all people.
GEMS International School of Pearl City, Penang (GIP) is a relatively new school having opened in August 2015. The campus, recently built, has well equipped and the latest technology for all subjects, with iLED and interactive screens in all primary classrooms and mobile access to laptops and iPads. There is a dynamic staff culture at the school with strong professional development centred on a supportive performance management programme for all staff including in-service and external training. There is an emphasis on the use of IT in a blended and realistic educational environment, achieving the best outcomes with varied approaches.
Since the recent foundation of the school GIP has been building an academic reputation, although we have students of a wide range of abilities and nearly all Malaysian nationals with English as a second language, they are equally deserving of the highest quality of teaching to the level of their potential. The primary curriculum is based on Cambridge Primary and the English NC system. Student entry to the school is by interview and CAT4 assessment.
Malaysian work permits are usually granted for two years. Contracts are therefore fixed term, but continuity is important for the school; it is hoped that appointments will be seen as longer term, with renewal of contracts common in the school. The staff is predominantly expatriate for the English curriculum and they share with Malaysian colleagues, excellent training, facilities and resources.
We offer a competitive salary, medical insurance, relocation allowance and paid flights.
Applicants are encouraged to explore the school’s Facebook and website:
Candidates should apply to the school directly at sending a completed application form together to firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief letter of application and Curriculum Vitae. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and supporting documents at this stage are not required.
We will acknowledge all applications and keep applicants informed; we enjoy a high level of interest in our vacancies, but your candidacy is very important to us. Please also be aware GIP is a non-smoking campus, and applicants will be expected to be comfortable in that environment.
