About The Right to Dream Academy

About Us

Over the past 20 years Right to Dream (RTD) has taken a journey from extremely humble beginnings to what is now a continent leading youth development model. Through education, football and character development, it is giving talented girls and boys the opportunity to access world class development pathways, and grow into role models and the next generation of leaders.
We are a fully residential, centre of excellence with over 90 boys and girls from 7 West African countries on scholarship, at a purpose built campus on the banks of the River Volta.
Over the last decade, we have achieved unprecedented football and educational success: 40 graduates have won full scholarships to America’s top High Schools, and 100% success rate in progressing on scholarship to US Colleges; together with over 30 graduates who have gone on to establish professional football careers.

Right to Dream is part of The Pathways Group and we are directly partnered with FC Nordjaelland (FCN), a Danish Superliga Club.   As well as providing a world-class graduate pathway for our students and the capacity for them to continue their education beyond the Academy, our partnership with FCN also creates development opportunities – in football and education - for our staff.

Our Impact

Since 1999, Right to Dream has helped talented young men and women realise their potential by opening up life-changing pathways that have had a transformative effect on them, their families and communities.

  • 34 have become professional players in Europe & the US.
  • 51 students have won full scholarships to top US & UK schools and colleges.
  • Our students have accessed over $40m in full-cycle educational scholarships.
  • 100% Conversion from full high school to full college scholarships.
  • 1st residential elite football programme for girls in Africa.
  • 25,000+ talented kids assessed in West Africa every year.
  • 2016 peace and Sport Foundation of the year.
  • $3.5 million worth of education accessed by our girls.

Our Approach

To identify talented children and provide them with a transformational foundation. Through Football, Education and Character Development, we open opportunities to world class professional pathways; enabling young people to change their reality, become impactful leaders and give back to their communities. We then use their remarkable stories of human potential to inspire a global community.

The Right to Dream Group

Currently spanning three continents, Right to Dream combines elite football development, innovative educational provision and a tailored character development programme to create the leaders of tomorrow. Through our academy in Ghana, our club, FC Nordsjælland in Denmark and foundations in the USA and UK, we are building a global movement for excellence and change that will impact youth around the world.

Our Values

These are key traits that we seek to instill in all of our students, players, staff and alumni to create a shared sense of values.
