Lancaster School is a non-profit, bicultural, inclusive school with a progressive educational philosophy, firmly committed to both Mexican and international educational systems. While we are rightly proud that many of our graduates go on to university we do not measure the school’s success only through academic performance. Central to the school’s philosophy and practice is the recognition that the our educational project focuses on helping our students discover who they are and who they want to be. Lancaster caters for roughly 850 children from 3 to 18 years, mostly of Mexican nationality from professional and academic families. Our students start with the IB Primary Years Programme during the Primary years. Secondary students study the International Middle Years Program (IMYC), IGCSEs and the IB Diploma, while also completing local educational requirements. The primary school is two form entry. Within the lower primary classroom instruction is in English and upper primary teachers work in pairs to deliver the PYP as a dual language (Spanish/English) program, together with specialist teachers in PE, Art, Music, Drama, Computing and Sustainability.
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, and passionate primary teachers who have a genuine commitment to the education of the whole child. The successful candidate will preferably have a minimum of two years' teaching experience. While PYP or IPC experience is an advantage it is more important that you have a creative approach to turning curriculum into learning, are committed to creating a classroom ethos where children flourish, and are excited by the opportunity to work in an informal and friendly atmosphere alongside a mix of foreign and Mexican colleagues.

The Lancaster School is a non-profit, private school founded in 1979 and is located in the south of Mexico City. From small beginnings, the school has grown in size and quality, while keeping a strong sense of its individualism and identity, in line with the School’s Mission and Philosophy. From the start, Lancaster has offered all our students integrated programs combining the Mexican and British education systems, taught through both English and Spanish.
Lancaster has a unique educational philosophy, based on our long-standing view that the real aim of education is to allow each person to embark on a life-long journey of self-discovery, so constructing our own identity. As such many of our school systems are focussed on supporting Lancaster students discover who they are and who they want to be. Mariana, one of our Lower 6 students, wrote about the school as part of an anthropology class assignment:

Lancaster has a reputation for being an unconventional school and this is, in ways large and small, indeed true. This stems from our philosophy and the reality that we are, as our mission states, a community of learners. The central idea is that we are engaged in the development of our individual identity, applies to the adults in our community as much as our students. Each of us who takes up the challenge of working at Lancaster finds that we have to examine some of our most cherished beliefs about education. It is our aim that during their time at Lancaster all our staff grow as people, in ways planned and perhaps unplanned. As a community, we welcome diversity in all its forms and the complexity that goes with this.
