WINDSOR CLIVE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Grand Avenue, Ely, Cardiff CF5 4HX “Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day”
KS2 Teacher MPS NQT Required for January 2018
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed teacher wishing to locate to Wales and/or wishing to commence and enhance their professional development working as part of an excellent Primary team.
Windsor Clive Primary is set in south west Cardiff, minutes from the M4. Voted in September 2014 as the best place to live in the UK, Cardiff scored the highest for house prices, rental costs, salaries and life satisfaction. Paired with mountain ranges, green valleys and a ragged coastline, ancient castles and a bustling capital city, Cardiff offers something for everyone.
Estyn Inspection Report said, “A school which has many outstanding features. Strong dynamic leadership and high-quality learning experiences within a nurturing, supportive ethos ensure pupils develop positive attitude and, achieve good standards.”
Peer Enquiry Report said, "The head teacher and SMT have a very clear and specific vision for improvement, which is based soundly on very good first-hand knowledge of all aspects of the school. There is a very positive ethos in the school. All stakeholders understand and contribute to the processes for school improvement and this is a very strong feature of the school. Leadership is distributed according to expertise and the senior SLT and SLT2 work well together." "Teaching observed in nearly all classes was good or better. Consequently most pupils make good or very good progress."
With 450 pupils on role, including a nursery, nurture class and Place 2 Be team of counsellors, Windsor Clive offers excellent quality of experiences, care and support for all its pupils and parents. It serves a large, socially and economically disadvantaged area and is strongly committed to its motto, "Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day". High quality practice and initiatives has given the school recent status as a Professional Learning Hub for the Central South Consortium Region, offering training to a range of teachers from NQTs to senior leaders.
The school is proud of its focus on children’s emotional and mental health well-being and has had the Place 2 Be school-based pupil and parent counselling service for several years, recently acclaimed in the media by its Patron, the Duchess of Cambridge; Investors in Families Award and accreditation by Middlesex University’s FAST programme (Families and Schools Together). The school is known for its very welcoming ethos whilst parents are well supported by the dedicated Parent Engagement Officer.
The school has been part of the Alliance of 10 schools for the Region for Closing the Deprivation Gap which recognises excellence in this area. Its Professional Learning Hub status acknowledges outstanding practice, also in Closing the Gap.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding NQT teacher, teaching mainly in a Year 3 class. The teaching role would be in addition to the current job-share class teachers. This presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, enthusiastic NQT teacher to work with two of the school’s OLEVI accredited hub facilitators, who would provide excellent modelling and mentoring for an NQT, keen to develop his or her practice further. The successful candidate would be expected, in addition to teaching alongside the substantive post-holders, to teach the class in the absence of the teachers whilst Hub programmes are being delivered, providing continuity of high standards, consistency and progression in learning for all pupils.
This is a full time teaching role commencing in January, 2018 until 31st March, 2018 with the possibility of extension to the end of the Summer Term.
