Job overview

Could you transform the future of children aged 4-11 with social, emotional and mental health needs, who have been unable to sustain their place in mainstream education? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you to join us as a Primary Teacher.

At Catch22, we’ve built an impressive reputation in the alternative education provision sector – based on an unshakeable belief that all young people have the capacity to learn, regardless of their life situation. Our brand new academy in Northamptonshire will open the door to learning, and re-engage excluded and often marginalised children.

The academy will meet the needs of pupils at both primary and secondary stages. At primary level, we provide a specialised service with a maximum of six per class. Here, children will be challenged and enabled to study at the pace they would in the mainstream. Our tailored primary curriculum will combine significant amounts of play with an emphasis on numeracy, literacy, science, ICT, PE and art. It will also focus on equality, diversity and understanding the community, while using circle time to explore behaviour and encourage children to talk openly about their feelings and difficulties.

This is your opportunity to become a key member of the dynamic primary-level team at this exciting new school. You’ll help to create a learning environment in which students are not only encouraged, but expected to succeed; while maintaining high standards of behaviour management in the classroom at all times.

Planning and delivering subject-based learning programmes and using a range of strategies to meet learners’ individual needs, you’ll set up monitoring and evaluation processes that enable them to measure the progress they’ve made and set targets for improvement.

A QTS with a relevant degree, you will be someone who can act as a positive role model to our young pupils. Well-versed in the National Curriculum, you will add a proven background of working with young people who have complex needs and exhibit extreme behaviour. You’ll also be flexible in your approach, highly organised and motivated, and a clear communicator who builds excellent relationships with students, colleagues, parents, carers and other stakeholders alike.

If you share our passion to deliver positive outcomes that will transform the future of vulnerable children, this is your chance to make a lasting difference.

Deadline for applications is 2 May 2017
