St Michael's Catholic School, Palm Island is a co-educational Catholic primary school on Palm Island, offering Prep to Year 6. Established in 1938, the school enjoys magnificent ocean views and natural surrounds including a creek, green hills and beachfront. The Sisters of Our Lady Help of Christians opened the school and later the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Sisters took charge, remaining on the island until 2011. Their mission 'Truth by Love,' remains the school’s motto. St Michael's Catholic School exists to service the community's Indigenous people, with the majority of students being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.

About the role
St Michael's Catholic School, Palm Island is seeking two experienced and dedicated Primary Teachers to teach Prep and Year 1. These roles are full time, permanent positions commencing as soon as practicable.
- To be able to work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning in partnership with the parent community
- To have an understanding of contemporary pedagogy and the ability to differentiate, and provide for, a diverse range of abilities
- To have an ability to collaborate and work positively as part of a professional learning community
- To have a willingness to change and develop instructional strategies to increase student growth and achievement
Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other
- Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
