Southern International School, Hat Yai, Thailand (SIH) is looking to recruit a Primary teacher from  August 2021

Southern International School Hat Yai is a growing, co-educational, pre-school to age 18 Cambridge International School in the prosperous and friendly southern Thai city of Hat Yai. We are an accredited examination centre for Cambridge International Examinations and achieved ISQM accreditation at Silver level through the Education Development Trust in 2019.  .

Despite being a relatively young school, in only our fifth year of operation, we  are experiencing strong growth, particularly in our early years and primary sections.  We currently offer a blend of the EYFS and IPC in Early Years, and a blend of IPC and National Curriculum in the Primary section.

We are looking for  teaching excellence in either Key Stage 1 or 2. This post would suit and experienced teacher or an NQT who wants to start their international teaching career in a small, supportive environment. Please specify the year groups who prefer to teach in your supporting statement.

Our children are mostly Thai and from other Asian countries with parents who are committed to giving their children an international education. Our parents are extremely loyal and supportive, and participate in many school events and activities.

The successful candidate will be joining the school at an exciting period in its development. There are opportunities to develop yourself professionally and personally in a safe, happy, supportive environment. Hat Yai is a wonderful, safe city that provides a great quality of life, and this partly explains why so many of our staff stay with us.

We will contact your referees unless you specify otherwise. Shortlisted candidates will be sent more details including the current staff handbook. You will be expected to gain Level 1 Safeguarding certification if you do not already hold it.

COVID-19 statement:

We feel relatively safe in Southern Thailand and compared to most countries the infection rate is very low. Given the precautions taken by the Thai government to keep it that way, it is extremely difficult to get foreign teachers into Thailand, but we have managed to recruit overseas teachers in August 2020 and January 2021. Our admin team are excellent and incredibly supportive.

At the time of writing, the preconditions are:

• A Certificate of Entry issued by the immigration department (we help you get that)
• A Visa ( we help you get that and pay for it)
• Health Insurance covering COVID-19 ( we get you that and pay for it)
• A clear COVID-19 'Fit to Fly' test no more than 72 hours before departure (you pay for that)
• A flight ( you arrange and pay for, and we reimburse up to THB 20k on arrival)
• Alternative State Quarantine for 15 days in Bangkok ( we pay for that)

Given the uncertainty of your actual arrival date, Your contract would normally start from your first day of work.
