Description St Mary’s Primary School, Scone is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Primary teacher to join the team for Term 1, 2022, with the possibility to extend for the year.



St Mary’s Primary School, Scone is a small rural community offering a Catholic education for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Equipped with modern and engaging facilities, St Mary’s uses a contemporary approach to learning which is personalised, stimulating and responds to the learning needs, interests and experiences of each student. St Mary’s offers an inclusive environment filled with skilled and committed staff who nurture the social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of all students in our care.
Position Requirements Teachers in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live purposeful lives.



The teacher will promote the school as a place of learning and excellence in accordance with contemporary evidence-based learning and wellbeing principles (including digital learning) and will ensure the ongoing development and implementation of pedagogical practices that impact on student learning outcomes.

Essential Criteria • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school;

• Ability to apply appropriate knowledge in order to plan and prepare contemporary and compliant teaching and learning programs in your nominated areas which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; and encourage them to work towards attainment of their potential;

• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes;

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes;

• Desire to contribute to the establishment of a staff wide culture of professional learning, reading and reflective practice;

• Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment;

• Evidence of excellent organisational and administrative skills.

The applicant must provide evidence of the following:

• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

• Current NESA Accreditation;

• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number;

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training.

About St Mary's Primary School

St Mary’s Primary School is a Catholic parish co-educational school for students in Kindergarten through Year 6. The school is located in Scone, NSW, in the Hunter Valley region. St Mary’s has approximately 220 students and 17 teaching staff.

The school was founded in 1887 by the Sisters of Mercy from Singleton, to provide Catholic education to area families. The school plays a large part in the local parish, and students and staff are very active in weekly Mass and church activities. 

Facilities

School facilities include seven air-conditioned classrooms with laptops and smartboards, a technology laboratory, multi-purpose hall, and a large, well-appointed library. The school also offers shaded outdoor play and sport areas, shaded picnic areas for lunch, and basketball courts. There is also an out of school hours care facility for students. 

Curriculum

School curriculum is based on the key learning areas of religious education, English, mathematics, science and technology, human society and its environment, creative arts, including visual arts, drama, music, and dance, and personal development, health, and physical education. Classes also make use of technology and computers in all key learning areas. 

Students also enjoy participating in sports, drama, and arts.
