Hillcrest New Barn School, a registered school which supports children and young people with Social, Emotional Mental Health requires an experienced KS1 Primary Teacher to join their dedicated team. We are offering a salary of up to £35,971 depending on experience. The school is within a commutable distance of Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke and Reading.

Hillcrest New Barn School, recently rated good by Ofsted offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6 – 16 years old who have Social, Emotional, Mental Health. New Barn School takes full advantage of their beautiful settings and foster a love for using the forest school, farm experiences, horse riding whilst using an accredited outdoor education scheme.

We are looking to appoint a motivated and skilled practitioner who is passionate about teaching and learning and can engage our students in education even when they may be reluctant due to previous life experiences.

You will be part of a strong dedicated team committed to providing our students with the very best outcomes through academic and vocational studies. The role will be challenging but rewarding, working in a dynamic environment where you can make a real difference.

The post holder will be expected to lead the teaching of and co-ordinate flexible, person-centred programs of study for designated individuals and groups of young people at Key Stage 1 with SEMH and complex needs. You will need to have qualified teacher status and have experience of working with young people with SEMH.

Following a thorough induction and training programme, your duties will include:

  • Plan and Teach tailored lessons to Key Stage 1 Students
  • Monitor progress of the children through regular tracking of performance
  • Attend regular staff meeting


Key Skills required:

  • QTS qualified
  • Up to date knowledge of the National curriculum and other programmes related to Primary phase Education
  • Ideally you will have previous experience of working with pupils with specialist education needs
  • Passionate about providing quality education to children and young people
