Job overview

Primary Teacher

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Primary Teacher to join our team on St Mary’s Base.  The successful candidate will have high expectations for all children, provide quality first teaching, make effective provision for individuals with different learning needs, develop an exciting and engaging curriculum and work in partnership with the teaching team across the islands and our partner primary schools on the mainland. This is a great opportunity to work in a through-school with adventurous and committed learners, supportive and enthusiastic parents and a fantastic staff team. We are committed to using our amazing and unique environment to build on our developing culture of high attainment and progress.

Five Islands Academy is an all age, multi-site, Church of England academy serving the five island communities of Bryher, St Agnes, St Martins, St Mary’s and Tresco. There are around 280 students on roll across 4 school sites. Secondary students and the majority of primary students are based on the Carn Gwaval multi age site on St Mary’s. This new building was opened in 2011 and provides a bright, open, well-resourced learning environment for the students.

We were the first organisation to join the Leading Edge Academies Partnership, a newly-formed and forward-thinking multi-academy trust. If successful in your application, you will be joining us at a very exciting time in our development.

We have made very positive changes over the last 24 months to ensure that our Five Islands children, parents and staff can be proud of their school. Through the Leading Edge Academies Partnership, we are creating strong professional learning links and opportunities for career development, building our enthusiastic, outward-looking staff team.

The successful candidate would be supported in finding suitable accommodation on St Mary’s.

The academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students and all posts are subject to DBS check.
