Marjory Kinnon School is a successful and growing special school for children and young people with moderate and severe learning difficulties, a high proportion of whom have a diagnosis of Autism. Ofsted has judged the school as ‘Good’ with behaviour being judged as outstanding. We are very proud of what we have achieved to date at Marjory Kinnon and more importantly, we are proud of the pupils who learn and excel here.

In February 2018 we will be moving into a new £30m purpose built school, which will better meet the needs of our pupils and enhance their education. We are a happy, friendly and supportive team of professionals, who are committed to raising standards through continuous development and enhancing the learning experiences of our pupils. We have very small class sizes (typically 6-8 pupils per class) with a high ratio of staff to pupils.

We are currently recruiting Primary Teaching Assistants to work with pupils in our Primary Department.  We are looking for candidates who have knowledge of how to work alongside and support pupils with barriers to learning, both sensitively and creatively.

On appointment you will receive a comprehensive induction programme, a wide range of CPD opportunities as well as ongoing support from the school leadership team.  We potentially can offer training routes into teaching for appropriately qualified applicants.

If shortlisted, you will be required to spend one full day in our school.  You will be allocated to a class team for the day, you will have an interview and skill test to complete. These will all form part of the decision process.

Closing Date:  Monday 25th September 2017

Interview Date:  w/b 2nd October 2017

Marjory Kinnon School is one of the country’s largest SEND schools. Since having moved into a new purpose built school building in 2018 the school has doubled in size. A well performing school, MKS provides education to 330 pupils between the age of 4 and 16, many of whom have ASC as their primary diagnosed need.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated, knowledgeable and creativity professionals, over 200 in number, working collaboratively to effectively support every single child in the way they need. Our vision is that every pupil leaves our school having learnt the skills and develop the confidence needed to become a valued, integrated and independent member of their community. We are always keen to hear from other professionals who have a desire to work in a SEND setting. Please do get in touch if you would like to come and have a look or just want to find out more about us.
