Description St John's Primary School, Lambton is seeking a temporary part-time (0.4 FTE) Primary Teacher to join the team for 2022.

St John's Primary School, Lambton provides a supportive and safe learning environment for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Position Requirements Teachers in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live purposeful lives.

The teacher will promote the school as a place of learning and excellence in accordance with contemporary evidence-based learning and wellbeing principles (including digital learning) and will ensure the ongoing development and implementation of pedagogical practices that impact on student learning outcomes.

Essential Criteria • Catholic, with the ability to articulate a personal commitment to Catholic Education (Primary and Religion Teachers only)

• Willingness to actively support the Catholic identity of the school

• Ability to apply appropriate knowledge in order to plan and prepare contemporary and compliant teaching programs and assessments in your nominated areas which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; and encourage them to work towards attainment of their potential

• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise assessment and relevant school data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes

• Desire t/o contribute to the establishment of a staff wide culture of professional learning, reading and reflective practice

• Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment

• Evidence of excellent organisational and administrative skills

• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category B or D – Accreditation to Teach or Accreditation to Teach Religion.

• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

• Current NESA Accreditation;

• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number;

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training;

• Proof of Covid vaccination status.

St John’s Primary School is a K-6 Catholic primary school located in the historic Lambton Village that lies in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. It serves the parish of Holy Trinity Blackbutt North.

The school was established in 1883 by the Sisters of Mercy and currently caters for a student population of 120. All staff employed at the school are expected to be committed to the engagement of students in purposeful learning, both within and beyond the classroom.

All classrooms of St John’s Primary encompass modern facilities with the latest digital resources being most prominent. Each learning environment is air-conditioned and features new and age-appropriate furniture. A modern and well- resourced library is also a key feature of the school,

Lambton Village comprises 12 hectares of parkland containing recreational equipment, tennis courts, soccer fields and an Olympic-sized swimming and diving pool. The school and its students readily access and utilise all these facilities within their broader community. 

Curriculum

St John’s Primary School implements the NSW Board of Studies K-6 curriculum within a culture of learning and collaboration, positive engagement and student empowerment. Special programs in the areas of literacy and numeracy are flagship programs for the school and a quality school band operates for students for years 3 to 6.
