Description Part-time Release from Face to Face Teaching position at St Joseph’s Primary School Wingham
Position Requirements • Ability to teach in the relevant curriculum area/s
• High level knowledge of the relevant key learning area/s and a proven capacity to improve student learning.
• High quality classroom teaching skills which enable students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential.
• Exemplary values and attitudes appropriate to professional practice and the intellectual, physical and social development of students.
• Ability to successfully implement and evaluate curriculum initiatives in accordance with curriculum and standards framework.
• Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and commitment to ongoing professional learning.
• Commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the school team.
• High level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents and other teachers.
Essential Criteria • Be appropriately qualified as a four year trained primary teacher
• Be a practising Catholic
• Record current NESA and Working With Children number on application
• Evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied. (https://etraining.allergy.org.au/login/index.php) Note: To start or return to working as a teacher in a NSW school, you must be accredited by NESA.

About St Joseph's Primary School

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is an independent, co-educational Catholic school in Rockdale, New South Wales. The school opened in 1892 with 88 students under the guidance of the Sisters of Charity.

St Joseph's has been refurbished in recent years. At the beginning of 2010 the a new library, toilets and undercroft area were built and the staffroom and technology lab were refurbished.

Curriculum

The school offers specialist teaching in the areas of English as a Second Language, Special Needs, Reading Recovery and Gifted Education. Art, Drama,  Music and PE teachers foster skill development in a variety of sporting and creative areas. 

Religious Education is central to the life of the school, it includes a range of topics concerned with Faith, Relationship with Self and Others, Mission and Justice, The Church’s Liturgical Calender, Sacraments, The World, Creation and Prayer.

Extra-curricular opportunities include sporting gala days, chess competitions, Science Week, fun club, peer tutoring and Mini Vinnies. Senior students are given opportunities to participate in representative sport.

St Joseph's ethos is divided into its Vision and Mission statements. ‘We are part of a community united in the person of Jesus Christ and inspired by St Mary MacKillop under the patronage of Saint Joseph.
