About Argyll College UHI

Argyll College UHI is the largest provider of Further and Higher Education in Argyll, and one of the thirteen academic partners of the University of the Highlands and Islands.

The development of Argyll College UHI is seen by Argyll and Bute Council and the Community Planning Partnership as a key part of the strategy for economic development in the area.

We operate 10 Learning Centres throughout the region in the towns of Campbeltown, Dunoon, Lochgilphead (2 centres), Oban and Helensburgh, and on the islands of Arran, Bute, Islay and Mull.

We currently have approximately 2,000 students enrolled. Full Time students number 400 with a 50/50 split between FE and HE students. Our HE student numbers have increased by 50% in the last three years.

We work with 500 pupils in the region's 10 high schools teaching Skills for Work courses, Foundation Apprenticeships and National 4, 5 and Highers to senior phase pupils as part of their school curriculum.

Due to our dispersed geography, much of our teaching provision uses Video Conference (VC) technology and each Learning Centre is equipped with computers, high-speed internet access, VC facilities and student study areas.

Argyll College UHI currently employs 240 staff across all centres, although more than a quarter of staff are based in Oban, including the majority of the college’s full time staff.
