Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a talented and ambitious leader to work alongside our Executive Principal and CEO to lead BOA on the next stage of its journey.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead the country’s most unique and successful vocational school. We are looking for an inspirational individual who will build on the well-established foundations and successes. You will be passionate about the arts and committed to ensuring the best possible academic outcomes for all students.

Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) is an independent, state-funded, 14-19 academy specialising in creative, digital and performing arts. The academy officially opened in 2011 in its brand new landmark building, located at the hub of the digital and creative industries in the West Midlands.

It has superb facilities for academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities. BOA is 100% selective, based on aptitude within the specialism rather than academic ability. As a result, it is unique in its admissions.

Academic results are outstanding with students achievement at least 20% above the national average in all three core subjects – English, Maths and Science achieved 94%, 85% and 83% grade C and above respectively. BOA’s Key Stage 5 results are equivalent to A*A*A.

Over recent years, BOA has developed into the BOA Group with a number of subsidiary companies including The Old Rep Theatre. BOA 2 was approved in March 2017. This appointment is due to the Trust expansion and development.

We are ambitious for the future and look forward to meeting candidates who are excited and inspired by the opportunity to help share and develop a dynamic new school.

To formally apply, you must complete the academy application form together with a letter of application in support of your suitability for the role. This should be no more than 2 sides of A4 and should detail how your knowledge, skills and experience will make you a suitable candidate. You should also submit a CV. Please return completed applications to Rhiannon Sharp at recruitment@boa-academy.co.uk

Interviews will be held on 6th and 7th March 2018.

Birmingham Ormiston Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
