Job overview

We are looking for a new Principal for our nurturing school. Our current Principal is leaving Shavington after 26 years of service, the last 5 being in post as Principal.

We are now seeking a talented successor who can build on the school’s achievements while bringing their own enthusiasm and dedication to this growing school.

Shavington Primary School currently has 444 pupils, located in the heart of Shavington between Crewe and Nantwich, in Cheshire. Recognised by Ofsted that “You and your staff have a shared vision for the school, based on ‘educating pupils for life’ and instilling in them the qualities of ‘resilience, resourcefulness, reflection and reciprocity’.

The school is part of The Learning for Life Partnership, a growing and flourishing family of schools. As the new Principal, you will enjoy unstinting support and care from an experienced and approachable Local Advisory Board as well as advice and help from an experienced Chief Executive and Trust wide Team. The role includes day-to-day responsibility for the operation of the school, providing a great education for all and ensuring the wellbeing of our whole school community.

We are looking for a highly effective leader with a natural leaning towards collaborative working, who will fulfil the potential in staff and children alike, utilising an adaptive style to best meet the needs of the whole school community. We are very proud of our school and are looking for someone who will uphold our excellent reputation and nurture our existing and positive relationships with staff and parents or carers. Staff members work collaboratively together with each other and with pupils and their families to build strong relationships and improve outcomes for all.

We particularly welcome applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates and candidates with disabilities because we would like to increase the representation of these groups at the Learning for Life Partnership. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater outcomes for children.

As our new Principal, you will demonstrate your commitment to excellence inside and outside the classroom. You will also have a proven track record of high expectations and outstanding achievement along with a passion for all children and their education.

We offer an attractive salary and a competitive benefits package. The Learning For Life Partnership supports its family of schools with specialist shared services, extensive professional development and career opportunities, and a wide network of curriculum and other links.

To apply for this post, please complete an application on TES. Alongside this, please set out in 1,000 words why this is the right post for you.

All completed application forms and written statements need to be submitted by Friday 21st April 2023. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to attend a 2-day interview on the 25th and 26th April (Please note these dates have changed from the original advert).

The interview process will involve a series of panel interviews, leadership tasks and presentations. There will also be an opportunity for shortlisted candidates to meet staff and pupils during the interview days.

We encourage all prospective candidates to visit and meet with us before the closing date for application. You can contact us by emailing the school
