North East Futures UTC is due to open in September 2018 in the city of Newcastle. Our aim is to become a vibrant, professional and successful school, viewed as a Centre of Excellence for science, mathematics, technology and computing, offering a different kind of education to young people in the North East region.

We will offer our students a technical route into the working world, focussing on the crucial roles that align with our specialisms of ICT, Computing and Healthcare Sciences. We will work closely with Accenture, The Academic Health Science Network and The University of Sunderland as well as some of the area’s largest employers to offer an innovative curriculum with exciting and relevant pathways available to our students.

We believe the appointment of our Principal Designate will be key to the success of North East Futures UTC in the coming months and years. Therefore, it is essential that our new leader will possess a wide range of skills to complement the multi-faceted nature of this role. We require a Principal Designate who is able to motivate and inspire not only students and staff but also stakeholders, employers and business partners, building relationships across the board to ensure we are able to provide a rich and varied curriculum for our students. As well as this, you will be able to manage complex projects, whilst keeping involved with the day to day life of the school and ensuring the UTC is marketed effectively to prospective students.

Ultimately, you will be a highly skilled educational leader with a clear understanding of the current landscape within the sector, as well as a strong and evidenceable track record of school improvement. Along with this, you will have a genuine passion for industry and the UTC movement as a whole.

North East Futures University Technical College (UTC) is an upcoming school for children aged 14-19. The school is one of a new type of school intended to provide high quality, innovative and practical education for students. The curriculum at these schools includes technical specialisms, which differ depending on the labour-force gap in their region. Each individual UTC will be backed and supported by a regional university and a range of employers. As well as this, the school will operate a longer school day, running until 5pm, to better provide for students and reflect the normal working day. North East UTC will provide a variety of different GCSE and A-level subjects, and have a capacity for around 600 students across a relatively large area.
