Job overview

Due to the retirement of the current Principal after many years of distinguished service, we are now looking for an inspirational leader with the ability to grow and maintain a fast-paced, high-achieving 2-11 Preparatory School.

Are you a creative thinker and accomplished teacher with the skills and vision to unlock the potential in each and every child? Do you have fresh ideas and a ‘let’s make it happen’ attitude, to nurture and develop a learning environment which motivates your team to go the extra mile and ensure every child thrives?

If the answer is yes, then you could be the person we are looking for.

You will have the personal qualities to lead, motivate and inspire a modern, forward-thinking Preparatory school, as well as strong academic qualifications and proven experience of successful leadership and management (ideally in an independent school context). Whether you are currently an Assistant Principal seeking your first headship or a successful Principal looking for a new challenge, you will have the drive and vision to lead a great school into the next phase of its development.

If you would like to take advantage of this rare opportunity and you feel you have something special to contribute to the next chapter of the Oakfield Preparatory School story, then we are waiting to hear from you.

To arrange a visit or discussion, please contact Laura Walsh, Registrar and Marketing Manager on 020 8655 7691 lwalsh@oakfield.dulwich.sch.uk

To apply please send your CV, which should contain the contact details for two references (one of which must be your current or last employer), with a 2 page covering letter. This should be addressed to Darren Coxon, Independent Schools Director and sent to recruitment@educationdevelopmenttrust.com

Closing date for applications: 26 February 2017.

1st interview 13 March 2017.
Assessment Day 22 March 2017.
Final Interview 27 March 2017.

Please note that we will not contact your referees until you have been confirmed for final interview.

OAKFIELD PREPARATORY SCHOOL

www.oakfield.dulwich.sch.uk

Established in 1887, and a member of the leading global education provider, Education Development Trust, Oakfield Preparatory School, aims to give its pupils a caring, challenging and inspiring environment where they can develop during their formative years. We encourage every pupil to be inquisitive and forward-thinking, to best equip them with the wide range of personal qualities essential for them to thrive in tomorrow’s world, while instilling traditional principles of discipline, courtesy and respect.

Situated in green and leafy West Dulwich, transport links are excellent. Oakfield boasts very strong links with all its prestigious neighbouring senior schools to which Oakfield children gravitate, many with scholarships, at the end of Year 6.

Our range of Extra-Curricular Activities is extensive: from Karate to Reasoning, from Chess to the Orchestra, and many more in between. We encourage our children to discover their talents, and then we support them to make the most of their gifts.

All our children learn French with a host of other subjects taught by specialist teachers, such as IT, Sport, Music, including musical instruments, Mathematics, English, Science and Art. We believe there should be no ceiling to the achievements of our children. The pastoral care here at Oakfield is of the highest quality and staff have the highest expectations of our children. Oakfield is staffed by a highly dedicated and committed team of academic and support staff. The senior leadership team is strong with an excellent vision for the future of the school.
