Job overview

Principal of St Catherine's College

Starting date:  1 September 2018

The Diocese of Chichester Academy Trust (DCAT) and Local Governing Body wish to appoint an outstanding leader to sustain our inclusive Christian ethos and take us from Ofsted 'Good' to 'Outstanding'. We are seeking a dynamic and talented leader to take the school to new heights and build on a strong platform.

The job of Principal at St Catherine's College is a privileged one.  The staff are hard-working, talented and highly motivated to help children achieve their potential in all aspects of school life.

The College has excellent pupils who are smart and conduct themselves well.  They deserve the best and we are looking for a new Principal who will:

Bring fresh new thinking, building on the good work to date

Have relevant recent experience of working in a strong or improving school

Have a passion for young people

Be committed to our excellent staff

Have the drive and ambition to get St Catherine's to the next level

The post arises as our Principal takes up the role of CEO across our Church Trust (DCAT).  St Catherine's College is currently one of six academies that make up the Trust and is the only Secondary at present.

The College is a 'good' school and we would be looking for our new Principal to consolidate this and push on rates of progress to enable the school to rise to the top 20% of schools nationally.

Being a Church School we are looking to appoint a Principal who will support our Christian ethos.  With a practising Christian as our CEO of the Trust, we accept that our new Principal may not be a practising Christian but we would need to see a commitment to developing as a Church School Leader as well as modelling our values of listening and having children firmly placed at the heart of our work.

We offer you

Leadership ISR range:  L29 - L35

A relocation package of up to £10k

Opportunity of career development within the Trust

Support for any new Principal to develop as a leader

Autonomy to drive improvement

We are St Catherine's College. We are a Church of England Academy that has children at the heart of everything we do.

Our smart, well behaved pupils are happy and proud of their school. We are a high achieving school with children who are well prepared for their next steps in life.

We are fixed upon progress for all. Pupils benefit from smaller classes in English and Maths, as well as additional support when they need an extra boost to accelerate their progress. We are blessed with excellent teachers who are happy and stay here. The teachers, the tutors and our expansive pastoral team work with each child to help find their 'missing piece' so that they can reach their God-given potential.

We are different, and what sets us apart is that we are the only Church of England Secondary School / Academy in East Sussex. Parents send their children here because we insist upon high standards and firm boundaries, all underpinned by our Christian foundation.

We are a college that teaches and explores the value of resilience. This resilience is in part why our students are more likely to stay on and succeed in further education than their peers nationally.

We are creative and maintain a broad and varied curriculum with Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Food Technology and Motor Vehicle all featuring in our curriculum as we recognise the value of developing the whole child experience. Beyond a rich mix of Sport, Drama, Dance and Music, we also offer chess, gaming, our Mandarin Academy, host the Pauline Quirk Academy and offer so much more...

We are St Catherine's and it is our mission that every child achieves his/her God-given potential. We aim for every student to rise to challenges, to enjoy learning and to feel a sense of belonging.
