Job overview

The English School Foundation (ESF) is the largest international education system in Hong Kong providing English medium education to students K1 to Y13. For over 50 years we have successfully created the conditions for our students to thrive, and be the best that they can be. We do this by delivering a world-leading education built on the principle that every child is unique.

We are looking for a world-class leader to be the Principal of ESF South Island School. Situated in the spectacular surroundings of the south side of Hong Kong Island, the school is made up of 1400 students representing over 30 different nationalities. The school has over 180 full and part-time staff.

ESF South Island School provides a deep and rich education to the students that it serves. The strong academic performance is matched by every single member of staff’s commitment to nurturing students’ creativity and passions. The school prides itself on the various programmes that offer up opportunities for the students to excel in leadership, community and environmental engagement, sport and the arts.

The school is vibrant, it is diverse and every classroom is full of energy.

We are looking for someone who has the knowledge and experience of leading a large and complex school – someone who can inspire the staff, engage our families and, above all, deliver an environment that enables our students to thrive. This is not a job for just anyone. We want someone who can help take an already successful school to the next level.

In joining ESF as a Principal, you will play a leading role in shaping the future of one of the most high-profile and high-performing education systems in the world. For more than five decades, we have been at the vanguard of educational thinking – constantly seeking out new ways to deliver the very best for the 18,000 students who learn in our 22 schools.
