We are looking for an inspirational and innovative Principal to join the team at Falkland House School in Fife. We are independent school offering day and residential placements to boys with autism and complex needs, including learning difficulties. The majority of young people are residential placements aged 8-18 years old and are a mix of 38 and 52 weeks.

About the Role

As Principal, you will provide inspirational and motivational leadership and a primary focus on quality. You will set strategy, working with the team to balance care, therapeutic and educational initiatives, delivering a multi-disciplinary approach that maintains a fun and nurturing environment whilst achieving for the children.

Working with the Director of Education and your senior leadership team, you will ensure the school has effective management and the required team capability to further develop and continually improve.

You will be joining an experienced and committed staff team of 45, including a Head of Education and Head of Care. You will have access to shared best practice, an unrivalled peer group and a wealth of experience across the 20 Acorn Care and Education schools.


Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a strategic leader who shares our values, inspires and motivates our staff, and delivers outstanding support, care and outcomes to the young people and adults we serve. The Principal will develop strong relationships across the NFA Group and forge links with the fostering division and other schools and care homes. Ideally you will be qualified teacher with teaching experience.

There are plans to grow the residential provision at the School so the successful candidate will have proven and significant experience of working in a residential setting, and a working knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Care Standards and/or CQC, as well as SEN education experience.  You will understand the challenges within the education and care provisions and you will champion the advantages of an integrated approach. As Principal you will be accountable for regulatory compliance and safeguarding.

We are looking for someone who knows how to bring a creative and innovative approach to improving performance and support for our pupils and their families. An excellent communicator, you will act as an ambassador for Falkland House School, and will have demonstrable experience of working in partnership with parents, commissioners, local authorities and other stakeholders.

Falkland House School is an in independent residential school for boys from primary to aged 18 years.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

We provide residential and day places to boys from early primary to aged 18, with residential placements of both 39 weeks and 52 weeks offered. The school has a well-established reputation for excellence in the quality of its service provision and for achieving positive educational and socially inclusive outcomes.
