Job overview

Are you looking for a truly life changing opportunity?

Following the great success of our founding Principal in growing our academy to be an Outstanding centre of educational excellence, we are seeking a passionate, inspirational and dedicated Principal to lead our school on the next stage of its journey. With a newly opened sixth form, this is an exciting time to join our academy as we support our students in realising their potential and becoming model citizens.

Climb the STAIRS to Greatness

The academy’s values of ‘Scholarship, Transformation, Aspiration, Inclusion, Resilience and Social responsibility’ (STAIRS), has changed students’ views about their futures. To achieve this the academy offers a unique and tailored curriculum focussing on all aspects of a holistic development, enabling its young people to become successful in their chosen pathways. As well as offering an Academic Core Curriculum, each day they also have an innovative enrichment curriculum including an extensive careers education which involves life skills, trips to Russell group universities and working with local businesses.

An extended community

Our Academy sits at the heart of the Oasis Hub Waterloo alongside Oasis Academy Johanna, a primary academy. The Hub is incredibly active within the Waterloo community running a Church, a debt advice centre, a city farm, a foodbank and a variety of youth-support services all integrated into academy life.  We expect our students to play an active role within their community, enjoying opportunities to volunteer within the various programmes. As Principal, you will be a key figure within our Hub, ensuring all our work is joined up to support the needs of both our students and the wider community.

Our ideal candidate

We are seeking an individual with a strong track record of senior leadership, clarity of purpose and high expectations for all. As a high profile figure within the Academy and community you will champion the Oasis ethos, support and develop your leaders and empower your wider team.  As Principal you will work with passion, pace, clarity and determination to ensure our academy continues to deliver excellent education to our students.

Effective Support

You will enjoy the support and challenge of a Regional Director, Regional Lead Principal and wider OCL National Team. By being part of a family of 51 Oasis Academies, you will work alongside expert leaders in their field and benefit from a strong support network and partnership within the London and South East region.  You will have many opportunities to share best practice and drive continual improvement, including National and Regional Conferences, Regional Improvement Networks and access to a growing CPD programme nationally.

About Oasis

For over a decade Oasis Community Learning has been helping children and young people reach and realise their potential.

Born out of the Oasis global charity, previously established in 1985 by Rev. Steve Chalke MBE, our first Academy opened in 2007. It was Steve’s vision to open a school that was inclusive of all and provided opportunity for the whole community. Since then we have grown as a family into 51 academies spread across the UK, each part of a developing community Hub. We are proud to be one of the largest Multi-Academy Trusts in the UK.

We work in some of the most socially disadvantaged areas, and believe passionately in each of the communities we are based in. We know them to be places of great potential and are committed to their continual positive transformation.

Since 2014 our sustained improvement has seen the percentage of Ofsted inspected Oasis academies attaining ‘Good’ or better rise from 30% to 81%.

Ofsted report

“The academy has outstanding systems for monitoring and evaluating all aspects of its work, particularly students’ attainment and progress. The academy council and the Oasis Board are vigilant. They contribute extremely well to maintaining outstanding teaching and achievement. The curriculum is outstanding. It is underpinned by innovative enrichment activities which contribute to boosting students’ confidence and goals. Physical education is taught effectively off site because the academy does not have the facilities. Students have a strong work ethic; their social responsibility and pride in the Oasis community are particular strengths.”
