Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become an Academy Principal within one of the largest multi-Academy trusts in the UK. With our astounding success rates since 2014 we have steadily improved outcomes at all phases of education and our sustained improvement has seen the percentage of Ofsted inspected Academies attaining ‘Good’ or better jump from 30% to 79%.  This is a great time to progress your career with Oasis Community Learning!

Lead our Academy on its Journey to ‘Outstanding’

Oasis Academy Skinner Street joined the Oasis family in 2013 and by just April 2015, it was judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted. This was a wonderful testament to the hard work and dedication of all members of staff at the Academy. Our focus now is to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating at the next inspection, and we are therefore looking to recruit a dynamic leader with the drive and the passion to help us realise this next stage in our development. In doing so, you will ensure the delivery of Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community. Will you be the next Principal of Oasis Skinner Street?

Supportive Culture

We currently have 381 students aged 4-11 on roll, 28% of whom require support for EAL and 24% who are on the SEN list. Oasis Academy Skinner Street is committed to helping all students to flourish, regardless of their specific needs. We aim to promote an enthusiastic culture of inclusion, healthy relationships and pride in achievement.

Achieving Excellence

Ofsted were encouraged by the signs of improvement and development in student learning and saw first-hand during their recent visit that pupils “thrive because they are very well cared for in a nurturing and encouraging environment that puts their needs first.” This was reflected in our KS2 SATs results too, as 74% of our pupils met expected standards in RWM.

Our Academy is committed to recruiting passionate, dedicated individuals to help our children achieve their academic and wider potential. The successful candidate is expected to engender enthusiasm and drive throughout our staff, nurturing a culture of ambition and continuous improvement. Our focus on achieving excellent standards for the whole child is paramount and this is done in a welcoming and caring atmosphere.

Effective Partnerships

We don’t expect you to do this alone. To develop you as a leader you will enjoy the support and challenge of a Regional Director along with the wider OCL National Team. By being a part of a family of 48 Oasis Academies, you will work alongside expert leaders in their field and benefit from a strong support network and partnership with 8 other Oasis Community Learning primaries across London & South East.  You will have many opportunities to share best practice and drive continual improvement, including an annual Regional Conference, Regional Improvement Networks and access to a growing CPD programme nationally.

Community Potential

Many of our Oasis Skinner Street students come from a disadvantaged background and community. The Academy staff, along with supportive and strategic Academy Council, proudly seek to serve that community and aspire to create opportunities for its wider members to reach their potential alongside our students. At the same time as developing our Academy as an enriching school environment, you will be a forward-facing community figure, keen to build relationships with local leaders.

Come see for yourself!

We are inviting applicants to see the school on Monday 9 October between 11.00 and 13.00 and on Wednesday 11 October between 09.00 and 12.00. Please contact Lara Fisher - Lara.Fisher@oasisuk.org -  to book a tour with one of our leaders.

Take the next step and lead our vision to transform lives and whole communities.

About Oasis Skinner Street Academy

Oasis Academy Skinner Street became part of the Oasis family of Academies in September 2013. Situated in Gillingham, Kent, we are an inclusive-of-all Primary Academy for young minds aged 4-11. With our mission statement - ‘we transform’ - championed throughout the hearts of our staff, it is our aim to deliver exceptional education in our community, offering pupils the chance to feel ready and excited about their move to secondary education.

We teach an exciting and creative curriculum, placing a particular emphasis on developing our pupils as active learners in every sense; we want our young minds to receive a holistic education and grow as intelligent and sociable people. We recognise that an outstanding curriculum, underpinned by inspirational and impassioned teaching, leads to outstanding learning. Therefore themes within our classrooms are chosen with care, ensuring they are relevant, stimulating and variable for levels of ability. Throughout their time with us, all of our pupils will continuously learn skills in English, Mathematics, Science, History, Art, Design & Technology, Computing, Music, Geography, RE and PE.

We want our pupils to discover their passions and thrive in the next stages of their education. In the 2016-17 KS2 SATs we were delighted to say that 74% of our pupils reached the expected standard in RWM.   Our after school clubs run Monday to Friday, with a view to encouraging our pupils to realise their potential and unlock hidden talents through choosing to learn. Some of our clubs include: Gardening, Colour Art Therapy, Science, Horrible Histories, Dance, Choir and Film.
