Job overview

2021 will be an exciting and challenging year at The Cambian Group. Part of the CareTech Family of Companies, we are one of the largest providers of specialist Education and Care services for children and young people in the UK, delivering across Special Education Schools and Colleges, Residential Care Homes and a Therapeutic Fostering Service.

We are embarking on a significant period of transformation in line with our ambitious plans and, at the absolute core of our business, is our commitment to supporting our amazing children and young people, each with their own needs, hopes and dreams to reach their personal best.

Our teams are fully committed to Cambian’s goals. They understand the challenges and rewards of working with our young people and know that every day they will achieve things that really matter.

Southlands School in Lymington, Hampshire is an ambitious, progressive and caring independent residential and day school for young people aged 7– 19 with a primary diagnosis of high-functioning ASD/Aspergers. In November 2019 our school was rated “Good” in all areas by Ofsted.

Southlands Residential Children’s Home is part of Cambian Southlands School, registered for up to 42 residential places for children and young people aged 7-19 yrs available, with flexibility, for 52 weeks of the year.

All of our young people have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and have received a diagnosis, and/or have traits, which put them in the average or upper ability range of the Autistic Spectrum. Some may also have a diagnosis of prior existing mental health issues which may present in a number of different ways, such as eating disorders and self-harm.

Southlands is located just outside Boldre, in the New Forest. The nearby town of Lymington is an ancient seaport with a rich maritime history that offers plenty for the visitor to the New Forest.

Joining Southlands, you will find committed, career focused and positive teams delivering rich and innovative experiences, playing to each child’s strengths, to prepare them for their lives ahead. Close community ties and inclusion underpin these opportunities in and around Lymington helping our young people to use their life skills and to support the development of positive relationships.

We are looking for an outstanding leader who can demonstrate a proven successful track record, comprehensive understanding of both the Education and Care setting for SEN, and the drive to develop positive and engaging relationships with all the key stakeholders working closely with our teams.

You will be an expert in your field, bringing the best in classroom experience alongside a clear vision and understanding of the link between leadership and true impact.

You will have a real eye for detail – knowing that our absolute commitment to the Safeguarding of our children and young people is our top priority. You will be able to demonstrate a detailed and insightful understanding of the regulatory environment that we operate in and the demands that this places on all aspects of our work.

Bringing our plans for Southlands School to life will be challenging and intense but, with enthusiasm, creativity and a hands on approach, the reward and satisfaction will be second to none. You will have a unique opportunity to shape and deliver the long term strategy for the school and our drive to transform the lives of our children and young people.

If you feel that this fantastic opportunity would be the next career step that you are looking for, please send your CV and details to marie.stewart@cambiangroup.com
