Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET), seek a talented new Principal to join the Trust’s Leadership Group with responsibility for UTC Oxfordshire, a mixed University Technical College located in Didcot, Oxfordshire, England.

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious leader who is ready to lead a school with firm foundations in place, and able to propel it forward with the right support behind them.

Reporting to the CEO, the Principal will work with the CEO and Trust Leadership Group, who report to the Trust Board of ALET, to develop and embed the vision for UTC Oxfordshire, providing inspirational leadership for the school community, establishing a culture of continuous improvement and one that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all.

Drawing on their deep educational knowledge and strong performance in successful school improvement, the new Principal will be eager for this influential role within a forward-thinking and ambitious trust. They will be a strategic thinker with the creativity and resilience to drive through change and achieve the improvements that will ensure we transform lives through learning.

Specialising in science and engineering, UTC Oxfordshire caters for 14 to 18-year-olds. 

Since opening its doors in 2015, the UTC has made a strong start, with a successful first Ofsted (Good) and strong academic and destination outcomes for its students. 

The next stage of the journey for UTC Oxfordshire is crucial. The successful candidate will need to take the UTC through its next phase of growth while embedding a strong relationship with employers.

Activate Learning is a pioneering education group that brings together further education, higher education, apprenticeships, training alongside seven schools within the ALET MAT. The appointee will join the ALET team, fellow educational leaders united by the shared vision to transform lives through learning.

UTC Oxfordshire is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form, serving students from the age of 14-19. Situated in Harwell near Didcot the UTC has a maximum capacity of 600 students. It is part of the Active Learning Education Trust and works with industry partners: BMW Mini, UK Atomic Energy Authority, Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), RM Education, Reaction Engines and Bloodhound SSC and Academic Partners: Oxford Brookes University,  Royal Holloway (University of London) and Reading University.

UTC Oxfordshire opened in 2015 and allows for students to specialise in either science or engineering.
